At the end of a long day at work, you don't want to think about making a meal that is complicated and takes hours of preparation. You want something simple and delicious. Pastrami makes a great main course for any occasion. However, you need some tasty sides to go with it as well. If you aren't sure what to pair with your pastrami, try some of the following options for a meal the whole family will enjoy.

Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Instead of the same, old, boring boxed mac-n-cheese in stores, you can give your family something that tastes so much better. Simply boil up some macaroni noodles. Drain them. Add them to a large baking dish. Put in about eight ounces of diced cheddar cheese. Warm a couple cans of cheese soup and milk in equal parts until nice and creamy. Pour your soup over your noodles and mix everything together. Crumble some crackers over the top of the mixture and put pats of butter on them to help give them a nice brown appearance. Place the mix into the oven for about 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees F. When done, the cheese will have melted and your mixture will be delicious and nutritious. Children and adults alike will love this blend.

Roasted Potatoes

Who doesn't love meat and potatoes? Instead of the traditional mashed potatoes, you can go with these amazing roasted potatoes. All you need to do is grab a bunch of potatoes and wash them off. With the skin on, chop them into diced chunks. Put all of your chunks into a baggie and add in vegetable oil to coat the potatoes thoroughly. Then, add in some pepper, seasoning salt and sage to taste. Mix everything around until the potatoes are coated evenly with the seasonings and oil. Once done, dump them into a baking dish and cover with foil. Allow to cook for about an hour at 350 degrees F. The key is making sure the potatoes are nice and soft when done. You might need to cook a little longer depending on how many you make and your oven.

By whipping up these two tasty side dishes to go with your pastrami, you are sure to give the entire family a meal they are going to cherish for quite some time, without having to stress yourself out and labor for hours in the kitchen.
